LA Times Festival of Books

It’s that time of year! I’ll be signing books at the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books tomorrow, Saturday, April 21st, at the USC campus. This is the best festival if you love books. They have author signings, panels, kids stuff, poetry readings, giveaways, food trucks, and lots and lots of books! What could be better?

Here’s where I’ll be signing copies of SUPERBEETLE:

Sisters in Crime – booth #367  1:00 PM – 2:00 PM

Mystery Writers of America – booth #376   2:00 PM – 3:00 PM

Mysterious Galaxy – booth #368   3:00 PM – 4:00 PM

Hope to see you there!

Author Day and Children’s Author Festival in Huntington Beach

What a fantastic day! I had so much fun participating in Author Day at Hope View Elementary School. Look what I was greeted with first thing:

The students made me an awesome banner! I love it!

I talked about being a writer and things I wish I knew before I started writing. The kids were funny, smart, and so sweet. I had such a blast! Each class received their own pet Superbeetle.

Then it was the Children’s Author Festival in the afternoon at the Huntington Beach Public Library.

It was great to meet other children’s authors, like Caroline Hatton. Her books are gorgeously illustrated and she has a beetle book too!

Thank you, Friends of the Children’s Huntington Beach Public Library and Hope View Elementary School! What a great day!

Huntington Beach Authors Festival

I’m so excited to participate in my first Children’s Author Festival on January 30th! It’s at the Huntington Beach Library from 2:30 to 5pm and there will be lots of children’s authors and illustrators selling books and giving away fun swag. I’ll have SUPERBEETLE coloring pages like this one:

I’ll also have my first school visit on the morning of January 30th at Hope View Elementary School in Huntington Beach! I’m so excited to talk to grades K – 3 on what it’s like to be an author and how they can write their own stories. I’ll also be selling copies of Superbeetle as well as giving each classroom their own Superbeetle!

Once Upon A Storybook recap

I had a blast reading SUPERBEETLE at my favorite children’s bookstore Once Upon a Storybook in Tustin. I think even the kids had fun! I showed them where Taiwan is on a map and shared a few cool beetle facts. Then we made our own Superbeetles and I got to sign the store’s author wall!

A fun way to spend a morning and I can’t wait to do it again!

Event tomorrow at Once Upon a Storybook

I’ll be reading from SUPERBEETLE tomorrow, Saturday, September 30th, from 11am – noon at Once Upon A Storybook!

Once Upon A Storybook, 17300 East 17th Street, #C, Tustin, CA 92780, telephone 714-669-4377

We’ll learn about beetles and even make our own Superbeetle! Here’s the one I created and if I can do it – someone who has zero craft skills – then I guarantee you and your child can make one!

Hope to see you tomorrow!

Superbeetle is coming soon!

I’m really excited for my first children’s book and it’s also the official launch of Gen-E books, Elm Books’ children’s imprint. Woo hoo!

SUPERBEETLE features Hong, a Chinese-American eight-year-old girl who visits Taiwan for the first time. She’s excited to meet her grandmother…but there are two big problems: 1) There is a GIANT beetle in her grandmother’s bathtub. 2) Her grandmother’s market is on the brink of closing! Can she save her grandma’s market while staying away from this terrifying SUPERBEETLE?

HINT: Maybe the beetle isn’t so terrifying after all.
